Nearly half of New Hampshire residents get their water supply at home from a private well, meaning a well that is not part of a public water system. Most private wells in New Hampshire provide water that contains harmful levels of contaminants—usually minerals that occur naturally but are harmful nevertheless. The most common of these contaminants—radon and arsenic—increase the risk of cancer and other diseases if consumed over a period of years.

Are PFAS regulated drinking water contaminants?
The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) has set the following drinking water standards for four PFAS compounds:
perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA).
-12 ng/L
perfluoroctanesulfonic acid (PFOS).
-15 ng/L
perfluorononanoic acid (PFNA).
-11 ng/L
perfluorohexanesulfonic acid (PFHxS)
-18 ng/L
How did PFAS get into the well water?
NHDES recommends that prospective homebuyers test the water in a home with a private well before purchase. Water quality in properly located and constructed wells is generally stable, and if a change is going to occur, it occurs slowly. Thus, NHDES recommends standard, radon, and PFAS analysis testing every three to five years. Bacteria and nitrate are exceptions; you should test for them every year. The following conditions would call for more frequent testing: • heavily developed areas with activities that handle hazardous chemicals • Recent well construction or repairs NHDES recommends testing for bacteria after any well repair, pump, or plumbing modification, but only after thorough flushing of the pipes. • High levels of contaminants found in earlier testing • Noticeable changes in the water, such as a change in taste, smell, or appearance after a heavy rain or an unexplained change in a previously trouble-free well. • Nearby rock blasting tests before blasting begins and several months to one year after blasting begins. tests
We service all water treatment systems.
Hi, my name is Brian Smith. I have recently started a water treatment company, H2O IN THE 603 WATER TREATMENT LLC, which services Southern New Hampshire. I am not new to the industry; I bring over 20 years of experience.
I began doing rough plumbing residentially and found I had an interest in and knack for water filtration installation and services. This interest became a passion for water treatment. My first plunge into the business was with Culligan of N.H. I was with them for approximately 10 years in which I did all levels of service and whole system installations. I found myself wanting to learn more about Radon in water, which was the catalyst to my next endeavor in 2015 with Advanced Radon Mitigation. I began as a Service Technician where I did service, installations and sales & was ultimately promoted to Service Manager. It was a great experience but recently found myself realizing that not only did I want to take my passion for water treatment to the next level but that I could on my own.
So, with that, I took my final plunge (along with a leap of faith) and launched H2O IN THE 603 WATER TREATMENT LLC.
Say something interesting about your business here.
H2O in the 603 Water Treatment would love your feedback.
